Plot
It tells the empowering story of a battered single mother working at a small town newspaper who gets caught up in the investigation surrounding the missile crash, which turns life upside down in a small northern town. It is based on a true case from December 1984, when a Soviet surface-to-air missile strayed from the Barents Sea across Finland’s borders and crashed in Inarijärvi.
Is this film a comedy or a drama?
The film wants to be both and that is its biggest problem. The first half of the film has some funny moments, and the film is okay.
Director Miia Tervo does a good job
But in the second half the film is more of a drama, which is okay too, but since it was not built as a drama in the first part, it falls apart, and the film gets worse the further it goes. Oona Airola is good, as is Emma Kilpimaa, as actresses.
The photography is good
It was also unclear to me why the film is set in 1984, there is nothing in the story that makes that decision clear, maybe it was just so they could use 80s music.
