After recovering, the series went back into production
Plot
A retired CIA agent is haunted by both the agency he once worked for and his own nightmares when an unknown man suddenly visits him after nearly three decades. Production was halted in March 2020 due to government restrictions. During this time, Jeff Bridges was diagnosed and then treated for non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
The first two episodes are great
Bridges referred to the return as coming back from a "long weekend" on a podcast in July 2022.. Featured on The 75th Primetime Emmy Awards (2024). So far the casting is excellent in the series.
The old man has extremely intelligent writing enhanced by the talent of the Ensemble
The acting style is very well done by seasoned professionals Jeff Bridges is fantastic in The Old Man, as is John Lithgow. Amy Frederica Brenneman was what this show needed; an air of mystery to her character, Amy brings it just as she did in HBO’s The Leftovers. Her sense of vulnerability plays so well with Jeff Bridges even when Jeff wants to get “the hell out of dodge”; is attracted to Zoe McDonald, Amy’s character, there is real chemistry as the two actors play off each other.
This is great network television
This thriller is going in interesting directions, I’m really looking forward to watching this series unfold! I can’t wait until the next episode! Episodes premiere 8/10.
