The show moves the setting to the present day
"The Day of the Jackal" The novel took place in 1963 and involved an assassination attempt on the then-President of France, Charles de Gaulle. Referenced in Graham Norton and guests: Denzel Washington/Paul Mescal/Saoirse Ronan/Eddie Redmayne/Blossoms (2024).
The cast gives some really great performances
The story is solid, with twists that keep you engaged, and the cinematography perfectly captures the eerie atmosphere. That said, I have to point out that Ms.
Lynch’s acting was quite disappointing
Her performance came across as very one-dimensional, which unfortunately stood out in a cast full of strong and nuanced portrayals. It’s not about race — I can think of a few brilliant black actresses who could have brought more depth and complexity to the role.
It’s certainly not perfect, but it’s worth watching
It’s just that her performance didn’t match the quality of the show as a whole, which was disappointing. Still, the show is worth watching for its story and the outstanding performances by other cast members.
