The Square also has Christmas lighting just like the one in the movie
Plot
Alana Higman, a diehard Kansas City Chiefs fan, and her family are in the running to win the team’s Fan of the Year contest, in a process judged by Derrick, director of fan engagement. -following this year’s lineup of holiday-themed romantic movies to watch from the comfort of home at historic Independence Square in Independence, Missouri. The locations that served as the Higman family store and Norma and Nick’s BBQ restaurant are also family-owned stores in real life.
Okay, wrong sports reference
I have to give the writers and producers some credit here, as they tried something very different in a Christmas movie story, even if Christmas just involved using a Chiefs slide every time the team has a game on Christmas Day. So they took a big swing, but only managed a single bunt. Maybe I should say they made a deep throw and only got pass interference, but not a bomb.
He has a unique style that we found amusing
Hunter King and Tyler Hynes had decent chemistry here and we liked Tyler in a few of these movies. However, some things in this movie took us out of the story, like a mother and grandmother who practically threw Hunter into a stranger’s lap the instant he walked through the door. Then, the whole thing about how angry Hunter got about “not believing in the hat” was ridiculous, especially when it was the best the writers could come up with to put some late tension into the romance.
managed an emotional performance
Much of the “best fan” story worked, and Ed Begley, Jr. Parkinson’s has made him look 15 years older than he should look at 75, and that’s a shame, but it’s not his fault. The deli owner almost made me bag this movie in the first five minutes.
Thankfully, she only showed up one more time, and briefly
We don’t regret watching this, despite some plot issues, but we won’t be going back for a repeat.
