He’s like Rock Hudson in the movie “Giant” and tries to stick to the old ways. “Yellowstone” moves quickly with little introduction, but its story unfolds at the natural pace of a day in the wilderness, with pauses for tribal rituals, cowboy conventions and political machinations.
Costner seems a natural fit for his character
It’s a massive undertaking that lingers between law and justice, family and friendship. He’s a world-weary man who’s seen too much and lied too often. Homeland and family are his bread and butter.

He hears footsteps coming toward him, but he can only fulfill his role out of habit as much as loyalty. While some of the actions are a bit confusing due to the lack of explanation, they feel natural, as if the viewer is getting a real glimpse of life in another world. I hope there’s an emotional payoff in the resolution of this saga that justifies its scope and attention to detail.
I would raise my rating to a “9”
We learn the fullness of each story, from the roots to the fruits.
