While running away from a neglected home, thirteen-year-old Rita is placed in an oppressive state orphanage. Rita’s presence gives hope to the girls inside, who share a prophecy that an angel will appear to set them free. Encouraging each other, the girls plan to escape for their freedom and uncover the orphanage.
